Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Wedify collects, uses, shares, protects, and deletes information when you use the Wedify website, mobile app, and related services.

Important: Wedify is not a court, marriage registrar, government authority, or issuer of legal marriage certificates. Creating, linking, verifying, displaying, or sharing a Wedify profile does not create legal marital status or official proof of marriage.

1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy applies to Wedify, including the Wedify mobile application, website pages, APIs, and any feature that links to this policy. In this policy, "Wedify," "we," "our," and "us" refer to the operator of the Wedify service.

"You" means the person using Wedify, creating a profile, signing in with OTP, searching for a partner, accepting a partner request, uploading a photo, or sharing a wedding announcement.

2. Information We Collect

Account and sign-in information

  • Mobile number, country code, OTP request status, OTP verification status, login/session tokens, and device-stored consent status.
  • Basic account identifiers such as user ID, profile ID, couple ID, request ID, and authentication state.

Profile information

  • Name, gender, marital status, profile photo or avatar, and other details you enter while creating or updating your Wedify profile.
  • Profile image files, preview images, and image URLs generated after upload.

Partner and couple information

  • Partner mobile number entered for matching or sending a partner request.
  • Partner request status, acceptance status, couple profile details, wedding date, wedding photo, and related profile display information.
  • Search results, profile lookup data, and information needed to show a couple page or partner status page.

Identity verification information

  • If an Aadhaar or similar identity check is enabled, we may collect the identity number, OTP, verification status, masked reference, consent record, and verification response needed for that check.
  • We do not intend to store full unmasked Aadhaar numbers unless we are legally permitted and technically configured to do so. Where storage is needed, we use masking, redaction, or secure references where appropriate.
  • We do not collect or store Aadhaar biometric data through the current Wedify user interface.

Technical and usage information

  • IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, app version, language, approximate region, access time, pages or screens visited, API request metadata, error details, and diagnostic logs.
  • Local storage and app preference data, including access tokens, acceptance of privacy and terms, user IDs, couple IDs, and temporary OTP/new-user flags.

3. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you when you enter your mobile number, OTP, profile details, partner mobile number, wedding date, or upload photos.
  • From your partner or another user when they search for you, send a request, accept a request, or create a couple profile with you.
  • Automatically from your device, browser, app, local storage, cookies or similar storage, server logs, and API interactions.
  • From service providers that help with hosting, OTP delivery, storage, verification, security, analytics, or customer support.

4. How We Use Information

  • To send and verify OTPs, authenticate users, maintain sessions, and protect accounts.
  • To create, update, display, search, and manage Wedify profiles.
  • To match partners, send and receive partner requests, confirm wedding dates, and generate couple profile pages.
  • To upload, store, optimize, moderate, display, and allow replacement or deletion of profile and wedding photos.
  • To provide app features, customer support, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and security monitoring.
  • To remember your privacy and terms acceptance on your device.
  • To comply with law, enforce our Terms, respond to valid legal requests, and protect users, Wedify, or the public.
  • To improve reliability, usability, performance, and safety of the service.

5. Visible Profile and Announcement Data

Wedify is designed to help users create and share wedding profiles and announcements. Some information may be visible to other users or anyone with access to a shared link, depending on the feature.

  • Your name, profile photo, marital status, partner name or photo, wedding date, wedding photo, and couple profile may be visible in search results, partner status flows, couple pages, or shared announcements.
  • Your mobile number is used for OTP, account lookup, and partner matching. We aim to limit direct display of mobile numbers except where a feature reasonably requires it or where you choose to share it.
  • You should upload only photos and details that you have the right and permission to share.

6. Aadhaar and Identity Checks

If Wedify offers Aadhaar verification, the check is used only to add trust and reduce misuse. It is not proof of legal marriage, citizenship, age, address, or any official status unless applicable law and the relevant authority expressly say so.

  • Aadhaar verification, if used, should be based on informed consent and a clear purpose shown before collection.
  • We use Aadhaar information only for the verification purpose explained at the time of collection and related security, audit, and legal compliance.
  • We avoid storing full Aadhaar numbers unless legally authorized. If storage is legally permitted and necessary, we use controls such as masking, encryption, restricted access, and retention limits.
  • You may request information about the identity check, correction of related profile data, or deletion where deletion is legally and technically available.

7. Permissions

  • Camera or photo library access is requested only when you choose to upload a profile photo or wedding photo.
  • Network access is used to send OTPs, load profiles, upload photos, and communicate with Wedify APIs.
  • If notifications, contacts, location, microphone, or other permissions are added later, Wedify will request them only when needed for a feature and will update disclosures where required.

8. Sharing Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information in these limited ways:

  • With other users or link viewers when a Wedify feature displays your profile, request, couple page, or announcement.
  • With service providers that host servers, deliver OTPs or SMS, store images, provide analytics, process identity verification, help with security, or provide support. They may use information only to provide services for Wedify.
  • With law enforcement, courts, regulators, government authorities, or other parties when we believe disclosure is required by law, a valid request, safety, fraud prevention, or enforcement of our Terms.
  • With professional advisers, auditors, insurers, lawyers, or business partners under confidentiality duties.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, with appropriate notice where required.

9. Legal Bases and Consent

Depending on where you live, our legal basis for processing may include your consent, performance of our contract with you, legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, compliance with law, and protection of users or the public.

Where consent is required, we ask for a clear affirmative action, such as entering information, tapping a button, selecting a checkbox, uploading a photo, or accepting the privacy policy and terms. You may withdraw consent where applicable, but some features may stop working if the information is needed to provide the service.

10. Retention

  • Account, profile, partner, couple, and photo data is kept while your account or profile remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward for safety, legal, backup, dispute, and audit purposes.
  • OTP codes are intended to be short lived. OTP verification records and security logs may be kept for fraud prevention, support, and legal compliance.
  • Aadhaar or identity verification logs, if used, are kept only for the period required or permitted by applicable law, platform rules, UIDAI rules, or audit needs.
  • Local device data remains on your device until you clear app data, log out, uninstall the app, or Wedify clears it through an app flow.
  • Backups may retain copies for a limited period before they are overwritten or deleted.

11. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, update, complete, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain personal data.

  • You can update some profile details in the app where those features are available.
  • You can remove or replace photos where upload/edit controls are available.
  • You can log out, clear local app data, or uninstall the app to remove data stored only on your device.
  • You can contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent.
  • We may need to verify your identity before responding to a privacy request.
  • We may refuse or limit a request where allowed by law, such as to prevent fraud, protect another person, preserve legal claims, comply with law, or maintain records we are required to keep.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including authentication, access controls, HTTPS or comparable transport security, restricted access to systems, and monitoring for misuse.

No app, website, server, storage provider, or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device, mobile number, OTPs, and account access safe.

13. Children and Age Limits

Wedify is intended for adults who are legally able to use a wedding profile and announcement service. You must be at least 18 years old to create a profile or submit partner/wedding details. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

14. International Transfers

Wedify, its hosting providers, storage providers, OTP providers, and support systems may process information in India or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards and comply with applicable restrictions on cross-border transfer.

15. Third-Party Services and Links

Wedify may link to app stores, payment providers, verification providers, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party websites or services that we do not control.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our features, laws, platform requirements, or business operations. The updated version will show a new effective date. If a change is material, we will provide notice in the app, on the website, or by another reasonable method where required.

17. Contact and Grievance Requests

For privacy questions, access requests, correction requests, deletion requests, consent withdrawal, complaints, or security concerns, contact Wedify at [email protected].

Please include your registered mobile number, the type of request, and enough detail for us to understand and verify the request. Do not include OTPs, passwords, full Aadhaar numbers, or unnecessary sensitive documents in email.
